Whistle Warps seem to be working on ZC, so I get warped to where I have set the destination, but when in ZQuest I set a whistle warp and test where it takes me by pressing the GO button, I get taken to weird screens. I know this is just a minor annoyance, but I'd be glad if this could be fixed.
As I said, Whistle Warps seem to be working when playing a quest, but I have to further test this before I can be 100% sure...
Whistle Warp issues in ZQ (b200 win)
To elaborate on the Whistle Warp problems(which are greater than this thread seems to indicate but probably related hence posted here), it seems like whenever you load a custom quest and try to edit the warps, it has problems. It will save changes to the coordinate of the warp(like screen 00, 4E, 78, etc.), but it won't save the change to the type of warp. Obviously it refusing to remember the difference between a Cave/Item Cellar and Entrance/Exit is pretty bad. When trying to actually warp with the whistle to a Cave/Item Cellar, it sends you to a screen in the middle of the map(on the correct dmap at least) instead of the correct coordinate so the whole thing's pretty broken. Also, after playing around with the warps and saving, trying to load another quest(or the same quest) in the editor is very likely to crash the editor and write a temporary file to the beta folder which has the same filesize as the quest being worked on.
Yes, I can confirm that the GO button seems to take you to a more or less random screen after clicking it. I have no idea how it decides what screen to send you to either.
All my testing was in b204.
Edit: I played around with it some more, and it seems like Whistle Warp 8 was the specific problem one insofar as it constantly wants to warp Link to screen 59(4F is where it's supposed to send him). Also, changing the tile warp on screen 59 changes the warp type of all the whistle warps. I can't even come close to explaining it, but it would seem to definately be a bug.
Smells like a buffer overrun. I'll look into it.
Question: Why do whistle warps have a warp type? Looking at the code I see no support for whistle warps having a type, and the whole bug makes a lot more sense if the type drop-down list is being displayed by mistake (due to careless reuse of the tile warp dialog box code). Shall I kill it?
Should you kill it? Why not!
Whistle Warps having a warp type is useless indeed.
Ah good, I was worried that I was extremely confused about how Whistle Warps were suppose to work 😉
All bugs mentioned in this thread should be fixed in the next beta.
the issue with colours during transitions is normal and intended.
