Okay, I don't have 119, but I've noticed the people generally get compiler errors when compiling my Cane of Somaria script in 119. Things keep coming up mentioning not being able to change something that's called "WTF" to float. I use no variable or pointer called "WTF" in my script. What's going on? Did you guys change the scripting language again, thus making my script null and void? I'm not going to like having to change my script every time the language is changed. Oh, and by the way, since I'm not sure if this is a bug, I'm leaving the New Bug icon off.
Possible compiler bug?
No, WTF means that there is something badly broken in the compiler type-checker.
The compiler is trying to print an error message to report that it found an identifier of an incorrect type, but cannot determine the type of the identifier! 100% a compiler bug. I'll look into it when I get back but it would help if you could post a SMALL sample script that reproduces the error.
That's easy- My Cane of Somaria script. People have been trying to import it into 2.5 beta 119, and get that error. Since I'm not exactly sure what is going on, I can't make a simple test script that would cause it, since I have no clue what exactly causes it. 😞
Here's the simplest I've managed:
ffc script test
{
float x=5;
float y=x;
void run()
{
}
}That gives "Can't find the AST ID," followed by "Cannot cast from wtf to float." Changing the type of y gives similar errors, as one would expect.
Fixed in the next beta.
