Zscript Bug????

6 replies · 1,832 views · Started 20 January 2007

when i load my zquest file, it says:
"Reading Maps...Okay,
Bad token! Searching...
Found.
Reading Color Data..."
And then it crashes...
this started happening when i imported the Cane of Somaria Zscript...
WHAT'S WRONG?! :'(
(btw the way i made the script importable was by pasting the script in a .txt file, then i clicked properties and then added .Z to the end of the name.....that IS how you do it......right????????)

That's why. You made the file "File_Name_Here.txt.z". YOU DON'T JUST TAG .Z TO THE END. Do this:

1: Copy the script to notepad.
2: Click SAVE AS.
3: Type this EXACTLY: CaneofSomariaOoA.z (You can put anything you want before the *.z, but I'd suggest you use that so you know what it is.)
4: Import in ZScript.

And THAT is why you listen to directions exactly.

It does this when you start ZQuest, or when you try to open a certain quest file?
The "Bad token" error means it was expecting certain data, but found something else. It sounds as if it's trying to recover but failing to do so.

No, it wouldn't be that. All the file extension does is make it show up in the list. Once it's imported, it doesn't make any difference what the filename was.

Ah, but you have to put it in quotation marks or set the file type to "All Files." Otherwise, Notepad'll just make it *.z.txt.

You can still load .txt files fine. It just doesn't show up on the list, so you have to type in the filename exactly.

Ah, the map deletion bug, now fixed, has corrupted your quest :-/ I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to recover it.
