Enemy Editor: Boss Firing Patterns

4 replies · 1,459 views · Started 11 January 2007

I've Tested only a couple bosses so far, and to that only a handfull of Projectile types but none of them seem to be working properly.

Aquamentis(Facing Left)-
All Projectile besides the Origenal Fireball shoot in 3 Directions(Like the Stalfos 3) instead of all three in one direction (As Most people would no doubt expect an Aquamentis-type enemy to do.)

I can confirm this on for the fallowing Projectiles:
Flame Type 2 (3 Single Flames in 3 Directions not like Octorok 3s do.)
Swords
Rocks

Gleeok (regular type)
Seems to like firing projectiles North instead of South.
I've Had it do this for Rocks and Bombs.

Perhaps Both behave this way because they normally shoot fire balls, which are a homming projectile and needn't be launched from a particular direction?

I'm any event, I'll do some more testing on Bosses and other Enemys that use fireballs as projectiles and see what I come up with.

Edit: Zoras Shoot North as well (And you Might want to consider a Quest Rule to allow Rocks to Glide over water, I had make the Water Walkable to confirm this.)

rocks should glide over water... it is ABOVE the ground... but thats the limitations of the Zelda 1 engine.

Just like the bosses's behaviors. Well, more accurately, the projectile patterns, except the fireball, can only move horizontally and vertically, not diagonally. which is why the things screw up for the aquamentus

I'm understand the Aquamentis issue with Rocks, Swords, Arrows, Magic and the other Horisantal/Vertical based Projectiles, But the newer Flame attacks used by Octorok 3's and Fire Gleeoks should work.

A simple Fix for the other projectiles would be to Line them up to shoot Left or Right like this:

*---------------> Link

^Aquamentis

Oops, I was the goose that posted a dupe a while back. sorry. Anyway a good suggestion for 2.6, rocks that don't fly over water!? makes sense to me...

Gleeoks now fire non-fireball weapons straight down instead of in a random direction. ( DarkDragon, 2007-08-20 12:03:52 )

* If you use the item editor to give the Manhandla a direction-dependent weapon, the Manhandla heads will now shoot it in the correct direction. ( DarkDragon, 2007-05-27 15:03:37 )

* Fireballs shot by Zora et al should once again follow a correct trajectory. Aquamentus and Gohma have been retroactively given a new weapon, Fireball (Rising), which behaves like their fireballs always have. ( DarkDragon, 2007-05-24 20:17:07 )

That's the best that can be done pre-2.50. The Aquamentus cannot be changed - if I had him fire all three weapons left (or right), you wouldn't see them because they'd all be on top of each other. The "spreading out" is a special property of the Fireball (Rising) and doesn't happen with any other weapon.
