Hello everyone! Some of you probably thought that I had fallen off of the face of the earth, but that's not the case - I was just out visiting a good chunk of it! For the last five weeks I have been travelling around Canada (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Yukon Territory for those of you who just needed to know).

I said I would not send another status report until the second pass was finished, but since it's been so long I thought I should check in.

Hopefully the next time I sit down to send a report it will be to say that the Overworld is complete!!! (Except for the flags...and enemies...and music...and...)

Hello once again! I'll keep this short and sweet because I really don't want to write much and supper is waiting. I have finished the Overworld graphics for Quill & Link! I'm sure they will suffer some modifications but I believe that most of what I've done will remain the same.

The image below is rather large (1639 x 1128) but only 380K.

As always, I look forward to reading your comments!

Jesus Christ, that's incredible. With this zoomed-in version, how much has changed since the last full-overworld map you displayed? Like, nothing specific, but just general things...

_L_

It intrigues me as well...I still have to decide its importance. But I spent too much time on it for it NOT to be worth at least a piece of heart... 🙄

*b*

The last full Overworld map I displayed only showed the four northern-most Overworlds (32 x 16 screens) whereas this one shows the entire 32 x 32 map. The original map I posted back a long time ago, at a lower resolution, still had many incomplete screens. I wouldn't say that there are any drastic changes - no volcanoes magically appeared - but there certainly are some subtle ones, like the new area in the northeast corner. But how will you sail there with all that ice in the port to the south? 😊

That map makes me cry from mouth-dropping awe and the feeling that my map-making skills are absolute zilch.

WOW. I cannot wait until you finish this quest!

Holy Crap!!!

Thats not a full over world map of your game...
you mean its bigger than that Scotian Gold?
wow... nice so far (of what we see) I'm still
interested in the blanked out area what
could it be? I would also like to know what
tile set your using.

Hello everyone! It's hard to believe that SIX months have passed since my last update. Work is to blame as I recently made the transtion from consultor to employee so I had many 16-hour days for awhile. But now things have calmed down - a little bit - so I have been able to plot out a couple of the dungeons.

I don't have an official status report at this time but I do have a draft screencap of the first floor of the first dungeon. I don't think that there's anything really innovative here, but it doesn't look too bad, I guess, for someone who admittedly doesn't like designing dungeons! It's still missing 'decorations' like torches in some rooms - since I haven't decided what final tileset I will be using, I thought it best not to put in all of those details.

I'm glad to be back and I'm looking forward to your comments!

Whoa! Now I really can't wait for the release! I must keep myself from blowing up. Too late! *asplodes*

Quest looks AWESOME. I can't wait for it to be released. The first dungeon's rooms seem to be, on the whole, a little too square, but the overworld is completely amazing.

Is there a demo available or upcoming?

_L_

All of the items from the original Legend of Zelda will definitely appear in various incarnations in Quill & Link, and most if not all of these will have more classes than in LOZ. Magic will likely be used but for which items I do not know. Since I don't like the hookshot, it will probably be used sparingly if it appears at all (athough it would be interesting to make it available before an equally powerful sword or boomerang...)

LostInHyru1e

There are and will be no demos for this game until I make the call for (experienced) beta testers. I could perhaps post something on YouTube as a demo to whet people's appetites, but that's still a loooooong way off.

The dungeon layouts are somewhat blocky, but it is in accordance with the plot so there's not too much I can do there. 😊

No Public Demo? Somewhere between now and release you should definitely, if you want to get a good fan-base, release a demo including a small portion of the overworld and the first dungeon.

Okay, it looks fine, but to me, I think some of the rooms are just too empty.
Also the room with the curtains - I know, I know, I have to slash them. It would be a good idea to put some curtains to other rooms too, and then the player will just think that there's nothing behind those curtains, just like the other curtains, but there is?
