If you try to use a screen numbered 88 or higher as a layer, it'll read past the end of the map you give it and use a screen from the next. If you do this to go past the last map, ZQuest will usually crash.
Invalid layers sometimes crash ZQuest
Well, it didn't crash, but I agree that you shouldn't be able to use 88+ as a layer.
Producing a screen that tries to reference a layer on a map beyond the current map count has been the cause of instantaneous crashes for several versions now. I think it's about time this problem was addressed at the source, rather than attempting to eliminate bugs that make it easier to cause it to happen on accident.
Even outside of this thread's bug, importing maps and decreasing map count can still cause seriously fatal bugs if you slip up and accidentally cause a layer conflict.
I've changed it so it won't accept screens 88+ as layers. This won't affect quests already saved that way, though I'd be surprised if there are any out there.
Dealing with a decrease in map count is more difficult, but I'll see if I can manage something...
Is this a dead issue now?
