When deleting tiles, text that I've entered that wasn't already on screen is altered, sometimes jibberish, sometimes to labels used in other parts of the program
Subscreen Text
This has happened to me. If I see it again I'll post an image.
This is happening to me a LOT. It happens if I duplicate text objects, delete stuff, and a few other things I try cause it.
This particular text glitch is the result of deleting the minimap. Yes, I deleted the minimap. I'm evil like that. Notably, it took 4 tries to finally "fix" it. The first two times resulted in more random text, then the 3rd try resulted in "A". It's not the first time I'd seen text copy other text on the subscreen editor for no reason.
The minimap, among other things. 🙄 Yeah, I've shifted around the minimap a lot. It even changes the text of the buttons in dialogs. At one point, I had two cancel buttons. :blah: XD
All these subscreen bugs. :shakeno: So many threads. L_L' I'm starting to think we should just set up a subforum for subscreen bugs. XD  [J/K] ... ... ... Well, I was sort of joking. ._.'
Fixed in beta 12.
This bug is back. I found it after rotating two bow tiles. I went back to my subscreen all the text elements were corrupted and were shown as garbage text.
This is apparently still in build 429. (Still gotta test if 434 has it...)
It's easier to see if you view one subscreen in the editor, cancel out of it, view another subscreen, cancel out, view the first one again, etc.
Actually, you might have to edit something on one of the subscreens, I dunno...but this was how I got the bug, switching back and forth between looking at two subscreens.
Eventually, all the text on one subscreen got turned to garbage, and when I went to look at the second subscreen, ZQuest crashed. o_O
Lovely.
Does anybody have a reliable way of reproducing this bug?
DarkDragon, I think Hypercrash had gravedug this. Is it not allowed to do that in the bug forums? Did he break a rule? Check New AGNs terms of service in Official Announcements forum.
This topic started at 08-07-2006 (Post #1) and ended at 08-16-2006 (Post #8).
I'd much rather people gravedig, or double-post when they uncover new information, than to cling to the absolute letter of the AGN rules. The rules' purpose is to promote order on the forums, but in these cases, they are a major hindrance by fostering confusion and unnecessary bureaucracy, and hiding valuable information from the developers, respectively.
The staff will not harass you, or any other beta tester, for violating the above two rules, in this forum, for bona fide beta testing purposes.
Okay. Then everything's fine to gravedig in the ZC Beta Bugs forum.
Just a note, that I read your reply.
As an admin, I've already stated that double-posting is allowed in the bug forums to keep bugs from falling through the cracks. This also applies to gravedigging, as DarkDragon said. If anyone does raise a stink about either of these in this forum, let me know.
a bug is a bug, no matter how old it is, you MUST grave dig, in order to let people know of the bugs status in a new build.
Since this is the current active bug report I shall again confirm it here.
-Confirmed jibberish in 536. This was due to duplicate for me(life gauge peices), and when I closed subscreen and re-opened it it was corrupted.
This is interesting, I wonder if when I imported my subscreen here a couple weeks ago and it added the word MAGIC and the old style magic meter if it had anything to do with this bug, since the subscreen I imported didn't even have those tiles and was the Active subscreen which shouldn't even be displaying them.
I fixed a related problem last build; let me know if anything still causes subscreen corruption.
Loading a quest with a custom subscreen (or importing one) containing fewer than the default number of subscreen objects, then duplicating or creating a new subscreen object, no longer corrupts the subscreens.
Yeah, this one right. Thanks again. This is the only reason I even have a passive subscreenie now. XD
But the corruption still occured after I succeeded in editing it in 536, albeit very minor and easily fixed.
There are dozens of subscreen reports back through the remaining 14 pages of bugs DarkDragon, how do you think those should be handled at this point?
Some of them that I knew had been fixed at one point I got rid of, but there are many I'm unsure of.
Only bump the ones containing very detailed descriptions of what caused the corruption; I'm going to need lots of hints of where to start looking.
You got it.
I just spent the last hour building a subscreen.
I started with a revision 2 and added, quiver, scrolls (3) and rocks feather.
I deleted 2 scrolls and put them back, deleted the selector 1 and put it back several times, and added the "selector name" so that when the selector moves to the current item it also names it down below.
I deleted several tiles and replaced them, deleted the big map and replaced it.
none of these trials resulted in any kind of corruption or problems.
In that case, I will declare this bug fixed.
