Major Bug with Custom Subscreen causing quest to become invalid

4 replies · 1,365 views · Started 07 August 2006

I was messing around with the Custom Subscreen and I went to go test it out in ZC, and it says that the quest that I was working on was invalid. I am trying to figure it out at this time, but this is what I know:

I was trying to figure out why the quest was invalid. And now I know it has to be becasue of the Custom Subscreen because when I try to open the quest back up in Zquest it says this:

Reading Custom Subscreen.........error
--Press any key to continue--

The thing is, I am trying to figure out what I did in the custom subscreen to make this happen since I can't open the file anymore. I remember I deleted the Big Map, and then tryed to add a new one. I changed the text of the invetory to a different text. And changed the bottom subscreen so the items are on the left and the mini map to be in the middle. Hopefully, I can figure out exactly what happen, but yeah this is a big bug.

So yeah, do make sure you back up the quest!

I gettin the same bug as well but it happens when i change the subscreen that says (no magic) and i was all day traking that down. So your are not the only one

Did you change your subscreen type in ZQuest from Revision 2 or whatever to Custom?

The problem may be from trying to changing the preset subscreen, as opposed to making a fresh one and then using the old one as a template.

I pretty sure this bug is dead now. I couldn't save the file I did it on, but it didn't happen since then. I will test it again when I get my computer, but for now, it is dead.
