Yes, four hundred years ago today, Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament and replace the existing Protestant establishment with a new Catholic government. He was only found out because he tried to warn the few Catholic MPs, and was caught in the act of lighting the fuses.

So let's burn us some Guys! And then go down to the pub and drink ourselves silly.
BTW: The pub they used as a storehouse for the gunpowder is still there.
