The window mode is very nice, but there should be a way to change the window size, since as it is it's way too small.
Suggestion for ZQuest window size
Use "-scale <size>" after "-windowed" I have yet to mess with the size parameter but I'll post it when Im done trying it.
I can't get "-scale <size>" to work for me. It always comes up in the Teeny tiny editor..
-scale 2
would make ZQuest twice as big
-scale 3
would make it thrice as big, etc.
If it isn't working, check your version and make sure you are using the latest version: 193 Alpha 3. The feature is only present in that version. We aren't "paying" you testers to use old versions. 😛
My version says it's ZC Version 1.93 (Alpha 3) But I have that -scale 2 after windowed and it loads, then quits. 😮dd: The allegro.log file says "Can't set video mode." Do you think it may be my PC?
I only had that problem when I thought scale meant the actual target resolution and I was doing -scale 800 600 and -scale 800. I use -scale 3 now. What's your current resolution? I think if your resolution is too small for the scale factor it doesn't start.
It might be your pc since I got it to work. Did you do it right?

How much RAM do you have? And yeah, what Atma said.

I run Windows XP with a P4 2.3GHz Processor 512MB DDR RAM.
Does that help?
 I'm baffled.
I have yet to get the scale parameter to work. Its not too much of a problem, as I generally use the full screen mode (Funner that way.)
However, I know RAM cant be the cause. I have 512 Megabytes of RAM and if it takes THAT much to scale it... o.o;
What are your desktop resolutions?
show me exactly the command line you are using when it fails, in its entirety.

"C:\Documents and Settings\Daniel\My Documents\Beta Testing\Zelda Classic\zquest-w.exe" "-windowed" "-scale 2"
"C:\Documents and Settings\Snort_2\Desktop\zc193a3w\zquest-w.exe" -windowed -scale 2
Okay, and is your desktop resolution greater than 640x480? You might also see if it works with -gdi after -windowed, though even if it works you probably won't want to use it in that mode.
As an alternative to scale mode try using the "-windowed -large" options. This makes a bigger window with a few extra features such as the ability to view the combos on the adjacent screens while editing. It's pretty buggy right now, but I prefer it to the scale option because of the adjacent screens feature.
Don't get too cozy with the -large option. If the bugs don't get worked out, this mode will be disabled before final release.

EDIT: Oh I fixed it up. I needed to take out those quotations. Duh.
Works for me. Great feature, since the mode switch takes forever on my laptop, but the normal windowed size is too small in 800 by 600.
However, if mouse scroll is on, the mouse does not work in the window and the tiles just keep scrolling down.
