I'm trying to change where Link will appear after he dies, but the number always stays 00.

click to the right of it and backspace to change the number.
If you're talking about the continue bug where he goes to screen 00 even though you have different numbers already set, use cave dmaps and enterance/exit warps instead of insta-warps.
the continue bug will be a problem until there is a new public release, you can somewhat get around it with cave dmaps and enterance exit warps, but you will still have problems.

The bug is still there, but now it is possible to design a quest that avoids the bug entirely. You just need to plan the thing out right.

the impossiblity to write over numbers :P
I was stuck for 3 months... when finally i tryed to press the canc button...
