I have read that you can use Din;s Fire but I cant get it to work. I have assigned sprites for the Item and the 4 DF 1a/1b things. But when I test it something doesnt work. I pick up the Item but then
it does not appear on the subscreen or in the B slot. How do I use it? I have tried setting my magic to max but that does not work either. could someone help me?
Din's Fire
Make sure you have the Revision 2 subscreen set.. On the older 2, DF will not appear. It's set on the final page, in the init data.
Did you go to init data and check off the revised 2 subscreen?
I'll try that . thanks
also make sure you have plenty of magic (one third of the whole magic bar)
It's one fourth without double magic checked.
it is?...i could only use Din's Fire 3 times w/out double magic...
That's odd. Well, make sure that you have at least 8 heart containers if you want to really compare to the max amount of Magic you can have, as it should stretch to both.
And just so you know, Octorock, there is a slight bug with Din's Fire if using BS-Animation, in which the middle frame, as the.... thing, is going back down to Link, Link will face backwards. It uses Link's middle frame of animation. So plan for this if you do so. What I do for compensation, is make Link do a thumbsup. (I have the tile if so want.) (..... Though I would assume that you wouldn't want it. 🙄 ) So when Link shoots it up, he throws the fire up, turns around, and can be considered "spinning" around to give the thumbsup.
Since we are on the subject. Does the dins fire flag work?
As of build 182, no. But it may be possible to set a screen up such that a candle or wand w/fire cannot hit the flag, only a Din's. I'll test this out today, as well as some stuff about Ganon.
Does it activate the burn flag?
Let me explain the DF flag -
it only works if the FINAL flame lands on the flag. So when link uses it, and DF passes through the flag, it won't trigger. The final ring must sit on it (you can see this in the test182.qst file, when trying to get into level 8 w/ burning the tree.)
good luck with this
Thanks for clearing that up Ganonator. I knew it had something to do with the flame, but I didn't know just what it was. 😊
Din's Fire does set off previous flame flags. I tested it today. (Unrelated note: Ganon also shows up on overworld until defeated.)
