Sound on windows xp

When I got windows xp, the music didnt work.
Then I did some stuff with a file to get the music working, but I cant remember what it was and what I did.
I need to know because a freind of mine just got zelda classic but his music dosnt work ether because of windows xp. So can someone please tell me what it is that I have to do.😃

Open the ag.cfg file and change the sound settings:
[sound]
midi_card = MPU
digi_volume = -1
midi_volume = -1
digi_voices = -1
midi_voices = -1
