Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U [Warning: Spoilers]

With the release date for the 3DS version in October and the Wii U version around this Holiday season, what are your thoughts on the revealed newcomers, stages, modes, and what version(s) do you plan on getting?

If you don't know the current roster, the official site can get ya up to speed with all the currently revealed characters (by official means) and if you don't care abut spoilers, here's a video about the most recent leak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spTFvJ6_H5o

Personally, I'm all kinds of excited for this game. Little Mac being promoted to newcomer from Brawl was one of the things on my wishlist for this game, as well as playable Mega Man (thank you Capcom for not being a bag of fodder about his inclusion) and with transformations being done away with, Zero Suit Samus and Sheik are now separate characters (because why not?). Pac-Man was a bit of a surprise (rumors of him being in since Bandai's involvement have been around since the beginning) and the playable Miis had a nice reveal trailer (despite being something that I wasn't expecting very much).

Personally, I intend to get both versions of the game (half because I can, the other half because of the still unnkown connection they are supposed to have, unless that is where the Amiibos comes in, which btw, I'm getting the Samus and Ness ones Day 1 if possible)

As for rumored DLC (cut characters, stages, etc) I'll be on the fence until that is either proven true or debunked. Though its true and the DLC is cheap/free, I'd probably get it (and let's face it, Nintendo has done pretty well on DLC in the past year so far. ie: Fire Emblem Awakening's DLC)

3DS version only... I've already purchased one system for this game and I don't plan on purchasing a second (Okay, I got the 3DS for A Link Between Worlds as well, but... yeah).

I'm excited, though not as much as I was when it was first announced. Honestly I was hoping for a total revamp for Ganondorf; they've been moving away from cloned characters and reconstructing the King of Evil based on his totally wicked portrayals in The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess (Terrifying swordsman in both) would have been a welcome transformation.

Speaking of which, I am one of the people who feels the removal of the transformation characters is a bummer; part of the point of these characters was to remove predictability from the battle. The 'form' characters had more flaws each than regular fighters, but like a Druid they were able to shift their strengths. The loss of raw potency was compensated with versatility, and this new Smash will miss some of that elegance.

Having a portable version of the game is a big win, though, and is sufficient to overcome these two gripes.

Same here. I bought the 3DS for the Ambassador program, and I see no reason to buy the Wii U solely for this game. Also, I have and played Kirby's Air Ride and thoroughly enjoyed City Mode, so even if I owned a Wii U, I would choose the 3DS version, anyway.

    Spoiler: show
I find it hard to believe that the Duck Hunt dog is a playable character. How would he even fight?

I am thoroughly excited for the game, I just hope the 3DS version doesn't turn out to be a piece of crap. Not that I'm too worried about quality, just have heard complaints about the screen being too small to play it properly. More and more, I'm kinda starting to want a Wii U, but I still just don't know if there are enough games to really justify it. 'Course, people said the same thing about the Wii, but I've got a pretty decently sized library of games - yeah, over the whole life of the console, but I'd say regardless, any console where you can easily pick out 10-20 must-own games ultimately justifies itself (just because, in general, I've rarely had a system where I owned more than 10-20 games, regardless of how many games were ultimately released - PC being the exception, in no small part thanks to Steam).
