Post 4 way (NES Zelda 1) to 8 way (SNES LTTP) Moverment Script?

I've just begun my journey with ZC and have spent a few days admiring the many great quests that fans have made for it. I noticed that some of them were using the SNES Link to the Past style in their fan games, and I'm assuming that they are using an 8 way movement system in their designs.

I would like to know if I need an external script to switch the original 4 way directional movement of the classic NES style into that of the 8 way movement system of the SNES A Link to the Past. Google didn't give anything so any help will be appreciated.
    Upcoming Fan-game Projects:
    (SNES Zelda LTTP Fangame)
    Gypsy Warrior
    (NES Uninvited Horror Fangame)
The Uninvited: Land of the Banshee

I think that's a built-in feature now that can be toggled on/off with a flag in the quest editor. I could be wrong though...

    Shattered Earth, coming soon!

It is a built in feature. From what I understand there are some bugs with it. I've heard @Majora say its buggy. Maybe he can explain more because I haven't experienced any.

I haven't really personally encountered any bugs with 8 way directionals that I wouldn't directly attribute to my own tinkering.
