    Your Game Projects

    tl;dr go to *

We are apart of a Fan Game development site. To my surprise a lot of people don't know this. They think AGN only exists because of Zelda Classic. I guess for many years it did after all of AGN's other projects fell off or moved away. Now that AGN is coming back to life I have heard a lot of talk in the realm of, "Why not just become ZeldaClassic.com?" or "Why not merge with PureZC?" The reason we don't do these things is because AGN is about more that ZC. We now have to other projects under our name, both of which I must say look tasty, and Zelda Classic finally has a stable 2.5! Still we are not growing. I believe it is because AGN, not just ZC, needs some new excitement and life.

I personally would love to see some Indie Games on AGN, by that I only mean games that don't use someone else's IP. Don't get me wrong I love fangames. Indie Games are on the rise while fan games are coming down in popularity. Indie Games also, IMHO, have a broader future over fangames. Not that I am saying not to post about your ideas for fan games. Feel Free!. I just would love to see some truly original ideas besides Metroid Classic and Open Sonic.

*In that vein I am starting a thread for you to talk about what game project you would start if you had the resources(time, know-how, etc) and put in your thoughts about others ideas. You might never be able to make it but if it's a great idea it might take off in someone else's hands.

Now here are my totally unoriginal ideas.

I am a SNES freak. It's the console I grew up on. Back in the 90's when the Internet was only used for porn and chat I found my games at a local pawn shop with nothing to go on but the cartridge sticker. Thankfully in that primitive and harsh world I found two amazing games, Act Raiser and Tetris Attack.

Idea #1: [Indie Game] Spiritual Sequel to Act Raiser
    > I loved Act Raiser and years later when I found out there was an Act Raiser 2 I was very disappointed. The company did not(or could not) provide us with a true sequel to the game and instead 86ed a whole half of the game and to this day Act Raiser stands alone. For years I have wanted to make not a true sequel but a spiritual sequel or remake to Act Raiser. If I had the know how I would start today.
I would try to make the Simulation part of the game more dynamic and involved and make warding off monsters more than using a ugly cherub that shoots funny sounding arrows. I would also like to expand the action part of the game. Wall jumping, weapon variety, etc possibly even straying from being a platformer. I would love to make the whole game 3D and change the action portion to somewhere between Zelda and Devil May Cry. That is probably way too ambitious though.

Idea #2: [Indie Game] Panel De Pon on Android
    > Though I'd probably get sued by Nintendo I would love to make a Tetris Attack/Puzzle League like game for Android. I don't have any ideas to improve the core gameplay(which is why I'd probably get sued). I think this would be a great game on a touch screen mobile device. Simply touching a tile and sliding to the right to switch with the tile to the right and vice versa. It would be awesome to be able to play with a partner on another device no matter where they are.

    ^This.

There's a reason I made that thread for Alpha Rose. ShadowTiger brought important things to my attention (which I still need to gather a popular opinion on), and I would love to see AGN live up to its plural name. Anyone here that develops, make your voice heard.

I wanted to check your game out but it doesn't work on my pc.

And even if your not a developer lets here your ideas! Even if they're lame. Some great games have started out as crappy ideas.

sadly doesn't work on Anthony's either because graphics card.

    What are you running?

I tend to get more storyboard ideas than I do game ideas, but there's a few others I've thought up:

TANK DAD: A tank with a mustache is piloted by his son (who is not a tank but a boy) through numerous connected worlds and bases, fighting other mustached enemies and defeating them to save mom.

COMIC BOOK HEROES: Top down, arcade-style action in which a small group of kids (four in total for four players) fight evil that is way out of their league by using things like slingshots and traps, but can power-up into their favorite superheroes by finding special comic books in the stages. Finding action figures enhances their abilities further.

I'm involved in the development of a game called THANCS; the title stands for Tactical Hex And Newtonian Combat Simulator. It's basically a turn-based tactics game in space with newtonian physics on a hex grid. Oh, and you can design your own ships; you get to build them Lego-style out of hexagonal component "bricks"! If you put the thrusters at an angle, they'll propel you sideways, and if you balance two of them out acceleration-wise with opposite torques, you can even use them to spin your ship, instead of using the (heavy) gyro components. (Nick - the main developer on this project - is a physics geek )
I thought the random question asked who the final boss of Final Fantasy 1 was. No wonder that registration didn't take!

We need to use our damn VX license to create a game based on AGN members, dammit. None of us have time for anything though.

I want to make a ARPG. It could be 3D, or sprite based, but it would use an isometric (or otherwise, 3rd person) perspective, and make use of all four face buttons in the following way: attack, alt. attack, jump, and roll/ dodge. I want the player to have a lot of control over things like how they character looks, and what kinds of skills they'd use and have.

I'd also like to make a side scrolling platformer, with a focus on shooting combat. Think of Metorid, or Megaman, but you also have a melee weapon, and various weapon upgrades (to either make a shot stronger, or grant a new shot type all together).

I had an idea for a Android game. It would be a single character RPG with a turn based gesture battle system. For instance you start out a normal warrior and when you enter a battle you tap an enemy to direct your attack at it and swipe horizontally for a horizontal slash and vertically for a vertical slash, etc. Your character gets cursed so that when you kill an enemy you become it's type for instance if you kill a fire bat you become the fire type and your available attacks change and you become weak to water etc. This way when you enter a battle you have to strategize not just the best way to kill the enemies but the best order and what type you will be left with as it will carry over to the next battle.

Has anything about this been discussed?
