I'm very new to this software and I need to know how I can place Link to make the quest playable.
1. In Quest->Init Data, set a starting DMap.
2. In Quest->DMaps, edit that dmap, and set the value of the 'Continue On' field to the screen where you want Link to start, and enable 'Continue Here'.
3. On the screen itself, place a Blue 'Warp ReturnA' square, at the position where you want to spawn link.

There are some fantastic, but outdated video tutorial series that you may want to watch...
Note that in this, he is using the (outdated) green arrival square. You should try to avoid that, but you may want use it if it helps you to make your first quest; as you can follow the video instructions, if my steps above don't help you.
