I can't find the wand which I think must be used against those red zols (Am I right about that)

Yes, the wand is required to defeat the red Zols, and it is found in level 6, by bombing a wall in one of the rooms that has red Zols. And as far as I remember, the yellow Manhandla, which is the boss of level 6, can only be defeated by the wand.
