Question Opinion: Worst vdeo game based on a movie?

I thought I should start this a companion to my other thread. We all know most of the LJN games are the top of the list for the worst, so what are some of the second-worst?

I'd have the say the so-called "Super" Star Wars games for the SNES. They only loosely followed the plot of the movie and for me just got boring after a while. That is worth noting--for me to get bored with anything Star Wars-themed is something big.

So, let's hear what you think!

Enter the Matrix. My God, why did I ever buy that game? There are worse games out there, but I don't think there's ever been a worse game that I actually owned. And yet, I played it ALL THE TIME. I couldn't get enough of it back in college. Got bored, distracted, played something else, came back to it after ignoring it a few months, and it wasn't then until I realized what a truly godawful buggy mess it truly was. At that point, I could barely force myself to play through the first level, despite the fact that I had beaten the game many times over. Fortunately, I later got Path of Neo for the PS2, which, while still not a perfect game, was worlds above Enter the Matrix. Then my no-good-lousy-stinking brother-in-law "borrowed" it and I haven't seen it since (sister's husband, just to be clear - they also swiped my copy of Clerks 2, and my VHS collection). Just kidding, he's actually an alright dude, just miss my game.

I think you just found one of the worst of the worst. I think there is only one other that compares with that for sheer awfulness, and that would be their other movie-based game, Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I haven't played E.T. myself, but this video makes me think it may not be all that bad.

I'm going to go with Ghostbusters on the NES. I was such a huge fan of the movie, I was extremely excited to play the game. I was disappointed when I played it, to say the least.

I used to play E.T. all the time when I was younger it was probably my favorite game back then.

I received the E.T. game for Christmas one year, and although I played and somewhat enjoyed it, even at that young age, I could see it had little or no similarity to the movie. What made the game fun was the same thing as with Raiders of the Lost Ark, it was the adventure factor, and not how closely it followed the movie. There was little to connect E.T. the game to the movie, and less still with Raiders, but they were still enjoyable in their own right.

Some have said that LEGO Star Wars and Indiana Jones games were bad, but I disagree. To an extent, they did follow the movies and are quite fun to play besides. Even the mysterious and fearsome Darth Maul looks cute in LEGO form.

LEGO Star Wars was awesome. I played it on PSP when I was in Iraq. I was done with the LEGO series after that, though. Every game seemed to do the exact same thing.

I have no problem with a game not following a movie 100%. Sometimes that's incredibly hard to do. You'd end up with way too little content that way. I love the Super Star Wars games, even if they're incredibly freaking hard. If I get to play as my favorite movie or TV show characters, and the gameplay is good, I couldn't care less how well the game follows the movie story. Example: Willow for the NES doesn't follow the movie's story at all. I love both the movie and the game. Watch out for a review of that game soon. :)

Not a huge fan of the Lego games but I enjoyed the Lego Harry Potter games.

Ugh, Willow. I never really got the love for that movie. It isn't very good and even though i grew up with it I doesn't hold a special place in my heart.

I've never really played any terrible movie videogames.
