    unarmed combat

I'd like to replace the wooden sword with a punch or kicking sprite. Unfortunately I'm not the most artistically inclined person and can's even seem to think of the appropriate way to do this. What would you suggest?

    1) Which tileset are you using?
    2) What tiles are you working from which need a punch or kick?
    3) Why or how would this character be punching or kicking?
    4) Do you have inspiration for said kick? Is it a kick like This or a kick like This?
    5) ... er ... Same for punches. o.o'
    6) ... assuming that you want punches instead of kicks. If you want the player to change to punches from kicks and/or vice versa, you'd have to have slashing disabled, because you'll be using Link Tile Mods to alter the graphics of his actions.

    Re: unarmed combat

Let's see. The punch (which seems easier to incorporate) needs to replace the wooden sword without completely throwing off the other weapon-use graphics. I'm just running a modification of Warlock's tileset (lazy)

That's simple enough to do. O_o' Make a backup of Link's tiles, (All of them, .. why not. :p ) and on the original, expand Link's sleeve, and on the sword sprite, make Link's fist go into the center of the tile. Fairly simple, I guess. o_O'

    Re: unarmed combat

wouldn't that produce a bizare effect when Link's little fist appears to be damaging opponents without actually hitting them? Or would I be using an unusually large sleeve?

You could probably shift Link forward slightly, and make his rear leg go back a little bit, as if he's leaning forward. Give him a good angry expression too.

    Re: unarmed combat

Well, shifting him foreward and extending his leg so's it looks more like a lunge, that's easy. Dunno about expressions though. I'll probably just leave the same "O."

Oh, you can kinda darken Link's brow a bit by making another dark color (Black, preferably) just above his eyes, connecting with his cap, and move his mouth to a 2x1 line of red a little bit farther to the side of Link's mouth.

    Re: unarmed combat

maybe you could use the existing punch sprite, but add, like, a little shockwave for the sword graphic? that what I used to do

There's a punch graphic? Do you mean his regular attack posture?
