In the quest for freedom, in the 1st dungeon i found the room with the whistle but have no idea how to get it. i tried killing all the snakes but nothing happened

Is that quest for Freedom I?
been so long since I even opened it I don't remember, I'll open it and look, but seems to me you needed the hookshot there which is in the overworld around the graveyard.

Freedom is right, you need the hookshot to get over. Aim it at the block and you will be on the other side.

got it. thanks for help. different quests give tools at different levels so it's hard to know when to find what where. i find most of my stuff by accident...lol
but i really enjoy all these different quests.
i've gotten to lvl 5 and reached the map room but can't get to the map. is there another entrance ?
it's a walk/swim through wall, come in from behind the map
