I really like NES and Genesis music. It's all synthy and stuff, and I really enjoy it because I'm such a geek.
Every time I hear something using either synth, I get all nostalgic and stuff. Anybody else feel this way?

NES music was not synth. The Genesis YM music would be considered that. And I know what you mean, I love TMNT and Battletoads on the Genesis.
The indroductory music in Phantasy Star 3 kicks ass. There can be no debating this.
Yeah, NES/Genesis music is great. Despite the fact that it consists, generally speaking, of different sounding beeps, it's still great for reasons that can't be described.

Yes, I agree. Wholeheartedly. I had a friend some years back who seemed to think it was weird, or funny, that I used to record nintendo songs on audio tape. Hell, even Game Boy songs (that audio jack came in handy for more than just headphones...) But come on man, seriously, Mega Man 2 ownz joo. That and lots of Konami games, but to name a few.
Consequently, I listen to a lot of the Overclocked remixes and resequenced MIDI's from various games that I find on the net, just to get that old "Nintendoey" music feel.
And it rox.
I prefer NO TEXT in my signature!! Err...
NES songs are called Chiptunes. And in all actuality, chiptunes are their own subgenre of music. Many other computer and systems were capable of producing music similar to what an NES was. And yes, some of the stuff you can do with chiptunes is really freaging amazing. Do a seach for chiptunes, and see what you come up with...
In the meantime, here's some great chiptunes to get you started...

All off of Modarchive You can play any of these with Winamp, as I think Winamp now comes with tracked music support. And before you ask, yes, you can use these types of songs in the beta's of Zelda Classic which support this type of music.
What about Genesis music? For some reason, in the DOS version of Zelda Classic, the Adlib (spelling?) Midi driver reminds me of these...
I wish I could turn the Adlib Midi driver on outside of ZC...
