A clip is a piece of metal that holds rounds together when they are in their original packaging. A magazine is the metal container that attatches to the underside of your weapon and feeds rounds into the chamber. I don't have a magazine in my weapon because I'm safely on the camp in that picture. If I had taken a picture while I was out in sector, I would have a magazine in my weapon and a round chambered. Yeah, I'd spent years using the words Clip and Magazine interchangeably, largely because alot of videogames actually didn't distinguish between the two(like in the original Doom, the sprite for 8 rounds of handgun ammo was labelled a clip, even though the little graphic clearly shows a magazine). An episode of Mail Call on the History Channel with R. Lee Ermie cleared up that misunderstanding once and for all.
