I thought Assassin's Creed was pretty bad. Using drugs and technology to regress humans to past lives was a horrible idea. And the level of detail shown in those "memories" was unbelievable.

Have there been any good movies based on video games? I suppose it depends on what is meant by "good." If you mean it follows to storyline of the game, then there aren't many of those. If, however, it doesn't really follow the story of the game exactly, but is still a good movie in its own right, I can think of a couple. The first Mortal Kombat movie and Double Dragon.
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
Mortal Kombat, Giratina and the Sky Warrior, Destiny Deoxys, and Detective Pikachu.
Can't really recommend any others ATM.

Apart from Mortal Kombat, I haven't seen any of those. Detective Pikachu sounds like it might be worth a look just for pure morbid curiosity.

It's hard to go wrong with basically Deadpool as the titular character. Not seen it myself (yet) , but everyone I know keeps telling me if you like Pokemon you need to see it.

saw Detective Pikachu and it was alright. hardly worst movie content.
Has anyone seen the Battleship movie? I know that's technically not actually a video game but there are video game versions of it. I never saw it but I heard it sucked like Kirby on steroids.

I heard it tanked and honestly I'm not surprised as the concept of making a board game with no story into a 1 hr+ movie just sounds like it would be horrible no matter how you spin it.

With Battleship, they could write their own story around it just so long as it actually involves ships battling. It would be hard to make that the main focus of a movie but if there's a good story to tie it all together it might work. My understanding is that the movie had a weak storyline and very little of actual ship battles.
Did anyone besides me like the Double Dragon movie? I'll admit it has very little connection with the game, but then again the same can be said of the Saturday morning cartoon they tried to base on it as well. I think I liked the movie because a) I liked the game and b) Alyssa Milano.

The Double Dragon movie and cartoons were something my brothers and I liked to watch, though not near as much as the Mario and Zelda cartoons or the various pre-Sonic Underground Sonic cartoons. Captain N was another favorite along with the Mega Man cartoon though the former didn't focus on 1 specific game.
