    [Brainstorm] Zelda 1 as a 3D game

No, this thread is not about Zelda 1 for the Oculus Rift!

If Zelda 1 were to take the form of a 3d game like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, the Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or Skyward Sword, what would you like to see the game feature?

These are the ideas I came up with while talking to King Aquamentus in chat

Eagle's Folly (under Eagle's perch at the edge of the lake)
    Key Item: Hookshot
    Boss: Aquamentus
Aquamentus is located in a trapezoidal room with shallow pools of water on each side. It stands roughly twice Link's height and has five attacks.
    • Homing Fireballs- The boss launches three fireballs which travel along the vector between the boss and Link when they were launched, but recalculate after a fixed distance.
    • Tennis Fireballs- These fireballs travel in a widening arc from the mouth of the Aquamentus and must be sent back with a strike from the Training Sword to stun the boss after a round of tennis. When Aquamentus is stunned, Link can hookshot onto its head via its horn and knock it down to score weakpoint strikes. This is the only way to harm the boss.
    • Fragmenting Fireballs- These fireballs travel like Tennis Fireballs but have swirling cracks. When struck, they fragment into Zora fireballs and scatter around the room.
    • Lightning Bolt- Aquamentus might rear up as if preparing to launch a fireball, but instead launch a bolt of lightning from its horn. This attack doesn't do a lot of damage but will stun Link if he is standing in the shallow water.
    • Charge- Aquamentus lowers its head and charges at Link, running until it hits him or the wall. If it hits the wall, it drops a heart.

Paper Moon (beneath a weeping willow on a hill in the eastern woods)
    Required Items: Bomb Bag, Hookshot
    Key Item: Power Bracelet
    Boss: Dodongo
Dodongo is located in a room full of sand. There is a wall of spikes on one side of the room. Dodongo is about as large as an elephant and has six attacks.
    • When Link is far away, Dodongo will roll up and charge at him. If Dodongo hits the wall of spikes, it will be stunned and drop some bombs. Link can also score a hit when this happens
    • Dodongo will take in air and launch a spray of flames across the room. The only safe place from the flames is the opposite wall. While taking in air, Link can feed Dodongo a bomb, which will cause it to puff up like a balloon. He can then lift Dodongo with the Power Bracelet and throw him into the wall of spikes, creating a weak point and allowing several strikes. After breathing flames, the sand will turn to glass and be slick to walk across.
    • When the ground is smoothed over with glass, Dodongo might leap into the air and shatter the glass, leaving patches of broken shards which hurt Link if he steps on him. These shards fade eventually, sinking back into the sand.
    • Dodongo might pound the ground while there's still sand, which forms quicksand vortexes that suck Link in and damage him like pits when he is pulled under.
    • Dodongo might make like it is sucking in air to breath fire, but instead spew bombs across the battlefield. Link can collect one of these bombs and feed it back to the Dodongo to trigger a weak point.
    • Dodongo also might make like it is sucking in air, but the result has a vacuum effect. If Link gets pulled in he gets chewed for a heart or two before being spit out.

Smuggler's Den (near the river behind a boulder that must be pushed out of the way)
Required Items: Bracelet, Bomb Bag, Hookshot
    Key Item: Boomerang
    Boss: Manhandla
Manhandla is located in a room filled with shallow water. It has four heads protecting a central bulb and it fills most of the room. Manhandla has several attacks.
    • Manhandla steadily secrets acid into the water, which gradually changes color until it becomes toxic and starts hurting Link. Link must break open pods of fresh water on the ceiling to dilute this poison.
    • Manhandla lurches towards Link and sprays poisonous gas from its mouth. This gas can be dispersed with the boomerang, which can also stun the heads as they approach. Only stunning all four heads reveals the core for a weak point.
    • Manhandla opens all of its maws and fires a barrage of seeds at Link, which are fast but can be blocked by the shield.
    • Manhandla lowers its heads and spins wildly around the room. This attack is hard to dodge and the boss is immune to the boomerang while it's spinning.
    • Manhandla submerges its heads, having them pop up one at a time and launch huge fireballs into the air which fall on the battlefield and explode. All four heads must be stunned before this attack ends.

Castle Ruins (in the center of the lake. Link must call a swarm of turtles and ride them to the center of the lake, then use the boomerang to cut the vines over the entrance)
Required Items: Flute (Ocean Song), Boomerang, Bracelet, Bomb Bag, Hookshot
Key Item: Rock Sirloin (Bait/Cane of Sumeria)
    Boss: Wind Gleeok
Wind Gleeok is located in a room with pits on all sides. It's necks are the size of sea serpents and it rises out of the pits to attack. When reduced to one head, it will collapse the platform Link is standing on, dropping the battle down into a basement room filled with spikes and skeletons.
It thus has two battle phases
    Phase 1:
    • The boss's heads will emerge one at a time, launching bursts of wind when they open their gaping maws and occasionally biting at Link. They attack mostly by trying to push Link off the platform into the pits.
    • When Link places a piece of Rock Sirloin, the Gleeok will lunge at it with one of its heads. While it is eating this bait it is vulnerable to attack, though the other heads might still pursue.
    • Once a head is killed, it will become a phantom and attempt to ram into Link, again shoving him towards the ledge.

    Phase 2:
    • With one head remaining the Gleeok will drop Link into the dungeon below its lair, where he will finally be able to see its body. In this stage the spiked ground poses the biggest danger as the gleeok still pushes Link around with its wind breath
    • Link must distract the Gleeok again with the Rock Sirloin, but its final head has affected a coat of armor, so instead of attacking it he has to attack its body while it's busy eating.

Spider Hole (through the lost hills up the mountain, Link has to chart the region by following the echoes of the Mountain Song)
Required Items: Flute (Mountain Song), Boomerang, Bracelet, Bomb Bag, Hookshot
    Key Item: Hero's Bow
    Boss: Gohma
Gohma, being a later boss than usual, takes the form of a much larger arachnid in this incarnation (Picture Twilight Princess size). It's actually a scorpion with two giant pincers and a huge stinger. The room of the fight is mostly dark, save a few torches. After taking a sufficient amount of damage, Gohma's exoskeleton breaks, revealing a burning mass of rage.
    It thus has two phases
    Phase 1:
    • Pincers- Gohma might lash out with its pincers, trying to grab Link. If it scores a grab, it'll squeeze him for a few hearts.
    • Acid- Gohma will climb up to the ceiling and spit balls of acid at Link. Not only do they hurt, they leave caustic pits on the ground of the battlefield.
    • Stinger- Gohma will try to jab Link with it's giant stinger. If it misses, it'll get stuck. Link must shoot an arrow through one of the torches to scorch Gohma's eye, revealing a weakpoint. If he instead uses the hookshot, he will trigger a weakpoint but only after Gohma grabs and squeezes him, costing several hearts.
    • Gohmalettes- Gohma drops several eggs, which quickly hatch into minions that attack Link but replenish his arrows (unless the stamina bar model is used, in which case they drop hearts).

    Phase 2:
    • Deprived of its stinger and protective shell, Gohma will focus on charging Link with its burning body. Link can now shoot it in the eye without using the torches, but it will not be stunned by such attacks.
    • When Ghoma slams into a wall, it will be temporarily stunned, allowing Link to flee by hookshotting to the other side of the room.

Hero's Grave(past the Lost Woods, Link must use the Sun Song to change the time of day and navigate the forest)
Required Items: Lantern, Flute (Sun Song), Boomerang, Bracelet, Bomb Bag, Hookshot
Key Item: Rod of Dominion (Any enemy with spherical openings can be controlled with this tool [Armos, Darknut shields for instance], as well as some statues)
    Boss: Digdogger
This isn't your granny's Digdogger. First, the room has patches of lava all over the floor. Second, the way you fight the thing is completely different.
Digdogger has a full-body and a kid phase which it switches between.
    Phase 1:
    • Eyebeam- Digdogger stands up on its flagella and fires a beam across the room.
    • Spring- Digdogger is big, and has a tendency to leap into the air and flop down on top of Link. Watch the shadows.
    • Lash- Digdogger also tends to slap Link with its flagella when it gets close.

The only way for Link to hurt Digdogger is to use the Rod of Dominion on its eye. This 'possesses' the eye, allowing Link to move away and pluck it out of the body. The body then splits into about a dozen digdogger children.
    Phase 2:
    • The digdogger children are fast and shoot zora fireballs at Link. He must hit them with his sword, but they scramble around the room pushing the dislocated eye towards the center. If it gets to the center, they reform into the giant Digdogger, though its size is dependent on how many of the children are still alive.

Lion's Repose(in the Lost Woods, Link must use the Fairy Song to draw the entrance out of the pond)
Required Items: Rod of Dominion, Hero's Bow, Rock Sirloin, Flute (Fairy Song), Boomerang, Bracelet, Bomb Bag, Hookshot
    Key Item: Mole Mitts
    Boss: Patra
Everyone's favorite bee-based swarm of evil eyes! Patra's main eye is roughly the same size as Link and its small eyes form two valence orbits around it.
    • Oval Pattern- The outer eyes swarm around the center in an expanding oval, hurting Link if they touch him.
    • Big Circle Pattern- The outer eyes quickly fly outward, harming Link if they touch him.
    • Frost Beam- The center eye shoots a beam of ice, creating patches of slick ground and creating a arcing wall of ice around its body. Link must dig through this ice with the Mole Mitts.
    • Replenish Eyes- When Link kills all of the outer eyes with his sword, he can get a weak point on the Patra. After the weak point concludes, it spawns a new swarm of eyes to protect itself.
    • Snap Freeze- Patra slams into the ground, freezing the entire floor. If the floor is already frozen, it shatters into shards of sharp ice, much like Dodongo pulled in the Paper Moon Dungeon.

Dragon's Den(In the eastern woods beneath a giant statue that must be moved with the Rod of Dominion)
Required Items: Rod of Dominion, Hero's Bow, Rock Sirloin, Boomerang, Bracelet, Bomb Bag, Hookshot
    Key Item: Magic Shield
    Boss: Fire Gleeok
Much like the Wind Gleeok, the Fire Gleeok is an enormous swarm of heads. All of its heads are armored, however, so while the Rock Sirloin is still a distraction Link won't be able to hurt it with his sword. Instead...
    Phase 1:
    • The boss's heads will emerge three at a time, launching blasts of fire when they open their gaping maws and occasionally biting at Link. The fireballs are the same that Aquamentus used in Eagle's folly and Link must play tennis with the Gleeok heads.
    • When Link places a piece of Rock Sirloin, the Gleeok will lunge at it with one of its heads. Link can absorb the fire blasts with his Magic Shield. While the head is distracted and if Link has blocked at least three fire blasts, he can shield-bash that head to inflict damage.
    • Once a head is killed, it will become a phantom and fly around the edges of the screen, continuously firing blasts of flame at Link. While dangerous, this also gives more blasts to charge the Magic Shield.

    Phase 2:
    • With one head remaining the Gleeok will drop Link into the dungeon below its lair, where he will finally be able to see its body. In this stage there is very little ground to stand on, with death pits everywhere.
    • Link must distract the Gleeok again with the Rock Sirloin and bash its head with a charged shield. Alternatively he can continue playing fireball tennis but this is a risky strategy. The body is armored and so is immune to the strategy for the Wind Gleeok.

    Spectacle Rock(In Death Mountain)
    Required Items: All dungeon tools
    Key Item: Silver Arrow
    Boss: Boss Rush Ganon
Much like Link's Awakening, my 5th quest, and Hyrule Warriors, Ganon would be a puzzle boss testing the players on identifying behavior that makes him vulnerable despite its different appearance from his minions. He wields the Triforce of Power like a weapon and it is often the focus of his weak points. After defeating the boss rush, he puts out the lights and starts attacking from darkness. Link must use his lantern to find Ganon in this darkness and then shoot him several times with the holy Silver Arrows.

    And that's all I've got!

I drew something up real quick just now. It isn't much but represents some possibility
