    Modded Consoles

Do you guys ever mod your consoles to let them do things they normally can't do? (Playing Backups, homebrew, etc...) I know I have modded quite a few of my consoles to play backups and homebrew.

Small list of consoles that I own that I modded.

    PlayStation 2 Slim
    -FreeMCBoot installed on Memory Card
-Latest Version of ESR installed to load ESR patched Backups (ps2 Only)
-Lid Sensors has been messed with where you can do disk swaping
-PSX Loader installed *Uses Lid Sensor mod to load Backups of PSX games*

    PlayStation Portable 1000
    -CFW installed
-Can load PSP .iso files to play games
    -Can run Homebrew apps

    Nintendo Wii x2
    -Homebrew Channel installed
    -Can load Wii .iso
    -Can load GameCube .iso
-USB Loader *Used to load the above*

I have some others consoles that I might not even touch just yet. I only modded these consoles to play backups at least there I can play the copies of my games to make sure I don't ware out the retail disk

I once tried modding my Wii with the Homebrew Channel, so I could activate an Action Replay on the Wii for Gamecube games. The plan failed pretty horrible. So now I have a lopsided modded Wii.

BUT HEY, I GUESS I CAN STILL PLAY TRAUMA CENTER, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA. *Insert Operation Music*

I tried softmodding my PS2 Slim but I could never get it to work so I gave up. My first Wii was modded and could do pretty much whatever I needed it for (mostly Wii back-ups) but I sold it to a friend. Found out later that he had bricked the system by letting the damn thing update in spite of my instructions to never let the system update. Now all I have is my modded PSP Slim. While the CFW is sadly temporary (have to reload it each time it reboots), I still get a lot of joy from being able to play games that I can no longer find for cheap. It is also nice to be able to play some classic PSX games that were never released as PSone Classics (such as Mega Man Legends).

I had a Wii get bricked once already do to an update ever since then I've learned that using The Priiloader's Block updates option is a god send. I have really learned a lot in the Wii softmoding area of hacking.
I will admit the one I had a hard time with was my PS2 Slim I had to use a PS2 Fat model and a copy of 007 agent under fire along with a home made disk swap card and plenty of time to get FreeMCboot on a memory card, getting that on the card was the easy part the hard part was modifying my slim the right way where I could the disk to spin with the lid open. :|

I modded my Wii to run homebrew and Wii ISOs. Seems like such a simple thing, but being able to back up my entire Wii collection to a hard drive and play from there was one was a brilliant move, and so obvious I wish I hadn't had to hack my Wii to do it. I mean, I know why, obviously, but after I got a 360, with virtually no game discs because I was able to buy everything in the market and download it to a hard drive, it was just such an obvious move to go to disc-less gaming. Heck, come to think of it, I don't even own any cartridges for my 3DS, either. Though yeah, it'd suck if your console crapped out and you lost all your games, but it's just so convenient - and honestly, part of why my Steam collection is as ridiculously big as it is. I just wish there was more original homebrew for the Wii, even though I totally understand why few people are gonna waste their time developing free games and software for a system that requires you to hack it to play it in the first place.

Oh, and just as an aside, I really enjoyed the Wii port of Doom - just 'cause I've been playing it since I was in middle school, and now I'm 31, and adding Wiimote controls to Doom really made it feel kind of fresh, in my opinion.
The artist formally known as macweirdo42, formally known as weirdguy (it's a long, uninteresting story).
