Edited Bow and arrow not working

my nephiew is making a starwars game and he edited the bow to look like a gun and the arrows to look like lazers. The problem is that after he picks up the bow and the arrows he cant shoot. It says that he dosnt have the bow and when he presses start to select the bow he cant move the cursor to the bow to set it to a or b. Thank you for your time.

If he has the bow, does he have the arrow item? Not the arrow ammo that enemies drop, but the arrow item like wooden arrow, gold arrow, etc.

Arrows are like a special item you pick up like a sword? where he would hold the item up and what not? Well, that could be the problem.

That's probably the problem then. The regular arrow should be under the regular item list, next to silver and gold arrows.
