    The Tutorial Screens:

So far, the vast majority of the planning of NeoFirst has gone into the quest itself which embodies the new changes in 2.11, but .. .. what of the Title screen? What of the "Press down to go to the quest, press Right to go to the tutorial section" areas? What would those look like? >>. We still have to get that done.

I'm also wondering where in the quest we should put all these. So far, I've got Map #4, I think, as the primary overworld for NeoFirst. I think we may need more space than that. Personally, I'd rather post the title screen and tutorial areas on Map #1, and build upward closer to map #4 wherever possible, but filling up the lower maps first. Could be quite possible. No problem, I expect, ... I just don't have a layout for what the screens would look like. I mean, would they be blank with just text on them with the "Press left to (etc).? Would they look like a dungeon? Would they have some sort of unique display type?

Input, anyone? What would you all prefer your special tutorial scenes to look like?

    Re: The Tutorial Screens:

Have the background look like what you are talking about with arrows that highlight the things that are in focus on the topic being discussed.

Put the words on a background that looks like a page in a book. If it's possible.
Side scroll arrows should remain normal. Like "If you wish to continue press _" "If you wish to play the quest, press _" "If you wish to quit the tutorial, press _"
    Something like that.

I like the scroll better. The book gives me the creeps. It looks dark and evil.

Well, considering what happens in the plot of NeoFirst, I think it should. :p

If you find a betterlooking book that may rip right into ZQuest, then please tell me. :) (Or even better, please link me.)

I figured that's what would happen if I said the scroll was better. I just don't like dark and evil stuff that much. They give me the creeps.

    Re: The Tutorial Screens:

Well remember, we still have to find a good midi for all this "Welcome to NeoFirst! Here's 2.11!" stuff. ( <-- exaggerated, obviously.) So we'll have to theme the non-action areas appropriately. I'm thinking .. something light and upbeat, .. fairly townish, but with no possible action associated with it. Just general pleasantries.

I'm thinking you could use the book as a location tile.
The scroll could be used with the dialog of the tutorial.

... I'm sorry, uh, ... can you please clarify that? I'm not entirely sure I grasp the concept you're introducing.

The scroll you can use as the background to the words for the explanation of the tutorial.
The book you can use as a picture.
