Did you defeat all of the bosses in the end before the golden key?
If you didn't, the shop will not open. There is an item that you need to buy in that shop to continue on.

If you aren't sure, go back and kill all those bosses again. If you did, I don't understand why it doesn't work.

I'll try killing them again. If it doesn't work, I'll try starting over with 2.10 (been using the latest 2.11). Maybe it's a bug in 2.11, but I'd hate to have to go back to 2.10; the dungeon maps not being saved was driving me crazy.

That would be your problem. DO NOT play this quest in 2.11! It was made in 2.10.

The candle is in level 1. It is the match.

Don't worry about the candle until after level 3. You need the hookshot to get it.

After level 3. There are other things within the game you need to do before you can get the hookshot.
