noob in need!

ok i already have this on another thread but....i figure if i make new one zelda warrior will come back and help me :)

(using descendant tiles)
first of all my problem is: i set a tile for a person to appear as the guy... so who do i set as the guy if i have a guy???

my bigger problem is:

i am tyring to make it so the player walks into a cave entrance (entrance is set on dmap1 map1 s17 [type: overworld]) and appear at another area that is an overworld (entrance: dmap2 map5 screen01[type:ovrwrld]
and on map1 s17 i have the following set: string:blah blah guy:still not sure but i set abei ne ways room:special item special item: wooden sword

ok so whenever i step into the tile warp on m1 s17 it DOES warp me correctly to dmap2 m5 s01, but, the guy string and special item dont appear whatsoever!! y!

thanks for the links... but uhhh when u said thats where i need to start were you being kinda insutling? if it was thats cool cuz i know i'm a noob but i know most of the basics so hopefully these are in depth tutorials. thanks again. btw

hmm i briefly read the tutorials and they didnt cover my problem. my problem is a little more complex then just making link appear in a cave

No I wasn't trying to be insulting, but it's best to swallow up those tutorials first so you can get a good basic idea of how the program works.
The problem you are having is covered in ALL of those tutorials, it's very basic.
you have to have a level number to get strings to work and to get the special item (like that) to work it needs a string, so no level number= no string =no special item.

If Alphadawg's tutorial dosen't cover how to make caves correctly than that's some fucked up shit right there 0_o Happyman's goes a bit more in-depth about making caves though.

I think the problem is in your dmap information.

EDIT: Btw, you shouldn't double post, use the 'edit' button in the lower right hand corner of your own post to edit your post and add stuff. You can double post if it's a couple of days apart though, USUALLY.
