    AVI movies

I think this was suggested a while back, but I can't remember the answer

would it be hard to impliment AVI files to be played when you enter a screen or step on a combo? this would be VERY helpful for creating high quality cutscenes. could this be possible in the near future, or at all?

It may be possible, but I'd have to find a library that can play AVI files in 256 colors, regardless of the original bit depth.

    What about using Allegro's built-in FLI/FLC playback?

    Re: AVI movies

I assume such cutscenes would needed to be made with another program or tool though, just as the mapmaker & grabber tools are seperate programs but can be used for a quest. I think it'd be cool to make cutscenes, but i dont really know too much about AVI Files. What are they? Are they difficult to make?

in this case, they would be complicated GIF files, with music. I don't know much about AVI files either, but I do know how to animate them. maybe sounds could be played in the quest

sorry to double post, but, has there been a decision on this, if it's possible or not? I'd really like to know...

    Re: AVI movies

I can say that from my experience with Allegro, you can play FLIC movies with about 2 lines of code. The main issues I can see would be storing them, large quest sizes, and creating them - as I can't think of anything that will save as a FLIC at the moment.
