    midi vs sound effects

so, I have been registered to the site for a week. I figured out how to open up a game and even choose what type to play,
anyway, there is no music, only sound effects. do I need to download a midi player? my computer (windows xp pro)
    soundblaster 5.1 surround
radeon 9600 with 256 megs of ram
    768 megs of ram
    bla bla bla etc
has a midi player, I think, so what gives?

Are you using the DOS version or the Windows version? Also, make sure your MIDI volume is up and not muted in WinXP.

Go into AGSetup and for the midi driver try the 'MPU 401'. It seems to generally work well. If that one doesn't work just try the others and see if any of them work.

There is no AGSetup in the windows version, and that's what you have.

when you're in the player, click the screen, then click Settings...

open the Sound... menu, and make sure everything is at max, except for the last thing, that should be all the way down

By any chance do you know what your soundcard is? You might eish to check control panel. Goto multimedia, midi, and see what midi outputs you have. If you have sound blaster audigy like me, select Sw Synth. If you use another, you may not hear sound at all. Even if you don't have my card, try switching around what synth it uses.

It's how I fixed my music.
