what does 'Genji' mean? I hear it all the time (games mostly, and there's a couple songs with it). I've come to the conclusion it means something like mystery or secret. I tried looking it up in my disctionary, but it dosen't have it... can anyone shed some light?
It's the name of a person, actually. Hikaru Genji. A character in a famous Japanese novel from the Heian period.
There are lots of pages about it if you look on Google a bit, though I didn't see any particularly food ones.
One of the first real novels, it was written many years ago. Last I heard it was a toss up between Genji and Beawulf as to which was the first written.
