Announced? FFXII has been announced since around the release of FFX in Japan two years ago.

This just sounds like Square-Enix is finally ready to show us some details, since FFX-II is out in Japan, FFXI is starting to make money, and of course the US releases are due.

FFXII is their next major project in the works.

It's more than announced - it'a going to have a demo at the Tokyo game show. Or so your link says.

demo? Of course, they've been working on the title since around the same time they have with XI. They've had concept art out since early last year I think.

Didn't they annouce Final Fantasys 11, 12, and 13, a little after FFX was released? And didn't they give them all projected release dates? (which have probably all been pushed back since then)

I believe so. I think they said XIII would be offline or online depending on how well XI did.
