That's the floor bricks on layer 1. The actual wall isn't on layer 1.

Link also appears under Layer 1 when holding a triforce at the end of a level.

That was done on purpose like my signature says. It's not like every sign maker in the distant past had perfect spelling and grammar from the 21st century.
