Arrow The future of the AGN Chronicles

As many of you know, the forum for the AGN Chronicles has been put down after a long age of hiatus and no-activity.

    Basically, the project is dead.

    NOT CANNED. JUST DEAD.

I am still willing to work on the script, but I have a rather busy schedule this summer. I have not heard from the others in ages pertaining to the game, with the exception of Rijun.

However, I have decided to let a few things loose...

First of all, the 'private' forum for the AGN Chronicles...

    http://pub83.ezboard.com/fthecespoolezboardfrm4

Next, the 'private' (redesigned) AGN Chronicles site...

    http://thecespool.tripod.com/agncp/

    Now for my idea...

I have, for a long time, been a fan of the Game Creation System called Megazeux.

    http://www.digitalmzx.net

There are many limitations to this game creation system compared to something like...oh say...RPG2k...

    1. Charactor only games (though you can edit the charactor set)
    2. Since it runs under DOS, people with Windows XP/2000 might have trouble getting it to run with sound.
    3. You need EMS memory to run it, and not everyone knows how to add an EMM386.EXE RAM file to their autoexec.bat file.
    4. You need to custom code it for an RPG style...

    Howeve,r there are several advantages..

    1. I am a lot more familiar with this than with RPG2k, and can integrate the script into it a bit better.
    2. Robotic is relatively simple to learn, yet is so powerful it's not even funny.
    3. 'Good' games take much less time to make.
    4. Charactor baised games have their own charm...

    Engine: The Second Attack

    Bernard the Bard

    Honor Quest : Special Edition
    5. Newer versions add features like mouse support and tons of 'counters' (numeric variables)
    6. You can integrate many game types into one game, possibly executing/implimenting the mini-game's that I had in mind...

So I'll leave it for you guys to decide...

Wow, if those pictures are of what the final product looks like of a game made with that editor, it looks like shit. If you had given more options with the poll I might not suggest canning the project...

There's always the OHRRPGCE. Kinda crude by todays standards in graphics and technology, but its more comparable with Zelda Classic, but its a little below it. You can do full scripting for story parts and the engine is modeled after Final Fantasy 4. This is a fan project, so I don't think your going to make a commercial quality game anyways if the project ever gets completed.

It doesn't seem as though people were interested in it that much. I don't know much about it except that it is a regular RPG that happens to use AGN members as characters. So I say put it to rest. Though an AGN-members related game could be interesting.
    Exactly, hehehe, D'oh

I still think a good old fashioned quest would suit just fine myself...

Origionally, I had a plan to do a public demo in MZX, with the twofold purpose of showing the public what it would be like, and showing DDX how to handle certain bits and events.

If this continues, I might go solo with MZX.

I think it's time to stick a fork in it. There just aren't enough people working on it, not to mention the fact that there isn't enough coordination. I don't have time to script it AND do the maps by myself, and after all this time with hardly any progress, I'm getting reaaaaalllllly bored.
