    be at full health. also, some quests have it disabled altogether

    Well, not always. Some quests will let you shoot sword beams even if you don't have full health, since you can specify for Link to shoot beams if he has X ore more hearts, or % of life.

    It's a shame we don't have a way to allow Link to shoot sword beams if he has X Hearts or less, then we could simulate the Peril Beam from Minish Cap.. ;P

    true, however being at full health is the gauranteed way to fire beams out of your sword, assuming, as I said, that the quest author has enabled beams for that sword

    oh yeah, you may also have a sword that dosen't shoot beams, zelda777

    I am using the puretileset link was at full health he still did not shoot sword beams.
