Changing the MIDI Soundfont in Windows 10?

Does anyone know of a way to do this? There was a utility some years ago during the windows 7 era called BASSMIDI that did this flawlessly but Win10 changed how MIDI works (perhaps getting ready to axe it)

I've been out of the ZC loop for years and saw in the 2.55 83 update that the hookshot is now diagonal so I arrived just in time for the space age.

I've been using VirtualMidiSynth for several years now. It's easy to set up, and it works great.

Still works on my machine - MIDI is still being developed anyway - it's not obsolete so removing it would really upset a lot of people.
