Framerate control?

I just downloaded ZC today and loaded up the quest called Lost Isle because it was recommended to me.
That's the only thing I've done, but everything is VERY FAST, so, having had this issue with other gaming programs, i exited the program and rebooted it.
That didn't help, so i turned on the framerate display and sure enough, it's anywhere from 100/60 to 400/60 to 1429/60, rendering everything unplayable.

Additionally, sometimes code will start raining down in green text and blackening the screen, but that remedies itself the moment i touch a button.

I have no clue what i've done wrong. Is there a framerate control button i might have hit? Could my joystick be interfering?
I'm hoping it's just an easily fixable bug.

If everything is going insanely fast, try pressing the F1 key. That should slow everything back down to normal again. As for the frame-rate display, I don't really know what purpose that thing has.

Also, about the code raining down in green text and blackening the screen. That would be the screen saver.
