It had a web strung right across my back door. Does anybody know what kind it is? Sorry the camera work isn't too good. I was more worried about not getting bitten.

Thanks. Looks like it's an orb weaver, no big deal.
to be more correct it's a female orb weaver who is about to lay eggs, you might want to kill it.
I'm gonna let it live. That way I can have fresh eggs for breakfast.
Just be careful, that species is quite overprotective of it's eggs.
I always let spiders and lizards hang around the house. It's good luck.
