China VS World of Warcraft
Seems Chinese officials didn't like bones and skeletons in WOW... so they changed 'em.
<Quoted:> "It's to promote a healthy and harmonious online environment," the anonymous staff member said.
Jeesh... what will they control next? Your bedroom? <blah>

Re: China VS World of Warcraft
My friend sent this to me the other day. What does it matter if they have flesh covering their bones? The majority of the people playing the game over there are just gold farmers.
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
And yet another sad attempt at unneeded censoring...
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
China can do whatever they want. The government controls everything, including morality. Don't you feel even more lucky to live here?
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
China should force them to have their gold amount censored next time.
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
Doesn't surprise me. China is screwed up. I believe they also have a law where you can't play for more than 4 hours a day or something.
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
^^Do you mean play like play in a park or play games online?
All the communist countries are screwed up. I don't understand it, especially since communism itself does not demand it. Or does it?

That's not communism, its totalitarianism. Communism is a blanket term for political and economic systems that emphasize collectivism. China is Communist in name only by this point, anyway.
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
Soooo...they object to Skeletons, but the other stuff in WoW is just fine to them?
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
I don't think there is a single country on the face of the earth that can be or has been considered truely communist. According to Marx, Communism was a destination, to be reached through government control, reachable through (I beleive) Socialism. The only problem is, progress towards Communism was pretty dependant on the government leading their country towards it, and once people have power they generally are unwilling to give it up, so the whole idea is flawed from the begining.
If you don't like China, remember that it's partly our fault for giving them an economic out because we want cheap shit at Wal-Mart and not bankrupting them along with the soviets.
Re: China VS World of Warcraft
well they should change the skeletons back

online games, they got a special version of punkbuster or something over there, if you play MMORPG games for instance, after 4 hours all experience earned is halved till you leave the game for 1 hour.

No hon... I just marvel at their governments audacity. And it seems that their people are happy/comfortable with their way of life.
I know that I couldn't live like that.
