I can't believe I actually beat our resident anti-RIAA renegade Cyclone to this.
I never have understood theses numbers.
From article;
If 7% = 280mill$ how much did they make?Quote:
Music CD sales declined 7 percent in the first half of this year, costing the industry more than US$280 million, the RIAA said this week.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but lets say 10% = 300mil(average).
Therefore 100% = 3000mil or 3 billion $ they make in a year?
OMG 3 billion and the piss and mone over a 7% drop and right when the economy is NOT so hot and it's because of file sharing?
What a bunch of greedy *&^%$@_(& basterds.
:meanie:
lol @ jemsee.
No kidding! I mean, sure its illegal [blank stare] but so is going 40 miles per hour in a 35. Duh, everyone's feeling the pinch right now and it AIN'T downloading that's causing it. It's a combination of two factors:
1) a CD is $20
2) no one is retarded enough to pay $20 for the embarrassing shit being released by the record industry.
I was at work at the time you posted this, and I had yet to get an e-mail on this.Quote:

Regardless, the fact that it happened is fucking hilarious. They deserve this.

I love how these hackers think. Since the RIAA uses the DMCA act to hack on Kazaa it's only far that they get hacked too.
The internet is our play ground. No rules, lots of porn, and free software for all. :D
Fuck RIAA. :mischief:
And lo, it was a good day for the internet! And the people cheered.
RIAA charges $18 dollars for a CD and they accuse US of stealing... bah...
I like Walmart prices. For new CDs, it's $18 a CD. Canadian prices. For some, it's even cheaper.
Once it's no longer new, though, it gets jacked up. Must be charging us storage costs.
But I must point out one bright insight: it's not the RIAA charging $18/CD. It's the retailer charging $18 a CD. The retailer expects his routine profit from them, which is why some of those companies are filthy rich.
Decides to check the RIAA site. Types www.riaa.org in a window.
We can't find "www.riaa.org".
Did you intend to go to one of these similar Web addresses?

Mmkay...clicks the riaa.com one.

Where can I find information on giant monkeys? Their site is down so I can't click on their link. :(
Hehe. Sweet. I'm sorry I missed seeing the site myself.
k-mapart (kmart) offers cds at like 14 bucks...
there is a place called The Wall in my hometown that sells cd's for 20 bucks, they used to have a lifetime garauntee feature. but since they took that away, shit aint worth buying.
20 bucks for a cd i can download and burn in 30 minutes?
take your pick...
Well, really, if 7% is $280 million, then 10% is $400 million...Quote:

So... Yeah. Greedy bastards they are.
Frickin bad ass. Stop file sharing...continue the privacy invasion...long live the home of the free...
Grumble...Grumble...
I was awaiting a cheery, "KARMA, BITCH!!" directed at the RIAA.

You know, the price retailers charge is somewhat fixed by what they have to pay in order to get it. I mean, they can't operate at a loss.
A fairly sizable hunk of what the riaa reports as expences goes to the ad compains. But I ask this: has anybody ever wanted to buy a cd after seeing an ad for it? If anything, such ads turn me off the music. I mean, good music sells itself!
On another note, I just noticed that the person who took that snapshot was using Opera...
ok where the hell are you getting your cds for 20 bucks, im only paying 12 for my cds
I pay $36 for new releases.........
