Re: Zelda Classic 2.10.2 for Linux
I've toyed around with ZC on my sister's Windows PC, but she's off to the other side of the world so I'd like to know what my options are.
My specs:
400MHz G3 PowerPC
128MB DDR
Radeon 9250 128MB
AC97 audio
My setup is Linux only, though I'm able to emulate
- MacOS 7-9 with MOL (native speed, quite usable) :D
- MacOS X with MOL (native speed but 400MHz/128MB makes it crawl) :(
- DOS with QEMU (100MHz 486/586, usable) :)
- Windows95 with QEMU (66MHz 486, horrible)
I see there's a linux binary available, albeit x86 only. Will there be a PPC build or is the source code available for porting?
Re: Zelda Classic 2.10.2 for Linux
A) you require a x86 compliant processor and B) ZC will remain closed source for a few more years at least.
Re: Zelda Classic 2.10.2 for Linux
In my linux box, this binary crashes after the Armageddon Games screen. If I disable sound it works, looks like it crashes when music would be played.
Is there a newer version of this?
Re: Zelda Classic 2.10.2 for Linux
Build 794 is the latest. Go ahead and try it.
Re: Zelda Classic 2.10.2 for Linux
Dammit, why don't I stay in Ubuntu when I'm just messing around on my computer. Damn you M$.
I'm going to try that new build right now.

Hmm still no music, but at least it doesn't crashes anymore!
Looks like there is a problema with music on the linux port... entering the "MIDI info" gui screen, the "listen" button is disabled too.
Re: Zelda Classic 2.10.2 for Linux
Thanks for the Linux port.
The only issue is that I am getting no sound at all. Runs just fine, no crashes like I have heard about. I have tried the "official" build from the OP and build 794 that you posted later, same results. I am not getting any error messages about the audio in terminal.
I am running Ubuntu Hardy 8.04. It may be a issue with Pulse Audio that they started using with Hardy. I am not even seeing the stream in the audio manager.
What audio does this use (OSS,ALSA,SDL)? I'd like to get this working as I love the classic Zelda's and would love to play all these new quests.
Thanks for any help, and if you need any more info please let me know.
