Certainly an interesting concept.
Only issue I foresee is it causing stress on the server. But we could always give it a trial run.
Admittedly, I'm in a hurry and have yet to research it very much at all, but I'm sure we could make it work.
Well, anything's better than email notification, so I say go for it.
I like email notifications.
I tend to check the forums infinitely more than my E-mail, so it doesn't really matter to me how the notifications occur. I'll get 'em either way. :) I'm good.
I'm not a fan of the realtime notifications because I think it makes things look too busy.
Something I've always yearned for, however, is for the main page and the thread-listings pages to automatically refresh themselves, preferably via AJAX.
Keep email notification and I'll be indifferent to this new system. If it replaces email then I will be opposed.
