Yup. That's how it works in Zelda 1. You can disable that in the quest rules.
Hmm, I didn't remember that the clock/superman status didn't make Link invincible to his own fire. That part is a bit interesting, and I'll need to remember to make an item flag on clocks at some point, for toggling this.
