Keep The Serious Story Going

I don't know if anybody will play this, but I'm posting it anyway. The thread title should be self-explanatory--try to keep a real story going and try not to make it silly or weird.

Kathleen stepped out of the cab onto the muddy sidewalk. She paid the driver and watched as the cab drove away. She pulled a business card from her purse and read the address, then looked at the building before her. This was the place.

It was the site of her next business deal. If she could get this to a satisfactory conclusion for both parties involved, there was a nice promotion in it for her. Maybe even a move to that corner office she has coveted for a while now.

She walked up the limestone steps and knocked on the door. After a moment, she heard the click of a lock and a man in a black butler's uniform opened the door. "May I help you, madam?" he asked in a pleasant, but businesslike, tone.
