I've started a dev blog for a game I've been working on called Dungeon Disaster.
You can find it at the main Armageddon Games (https://www.armageddongames.com) site.
All of the development blog posts can be found here (https://www.armageddongames.com/category/dungeon-disaster/).

If anyone has any thoughts or recommendations on a sprite artist, please let me know. I need to remove the Zelda art asap.
Let me know if you have any questions.

The link to the dev posts returns Error 500. I don't see Dungeon Disaster listed yet, on the main site. Which Zelda sprites are you referencing in you above post?

Take a look again, I messed up the site for a moment.

I'll do that now.

I don't know if you are looking for a paid, or an unpaid artist, but Mitsukara might be a decent choice. I may be willing to do some of it, depending on what you need.

My apologies, that was a cache issue I need to work out.
It is indeed there now.

Cool! I'm a fan of procedural 2D games as well. I messed with some progressively generated enemy spawn systems for a shmup once; it was a lot of fun.

I've already come to terms with the fact that it will have to be paid if I intend to release the game as a paid title.

They're great just because you can play so many times and never experience the same game twice. Keeps it fresh a bit longer. The difficulty is usually a bit higher on them as well which is something newer games lack as well.

I edited my original blog post and added an animated gif of some gameplay.

Looks cool! I'd love to get into game dev some day, but today is not that day.

As for the sprite artist, are you looking to pay someone, or someone who can work pro bono?

War Lord
01-04-2017, 12:25 AM
I'm going to have to pay someone. No one does revenue share on graphics anymore, which makes sense. Who knows if a game will be successful or not with how many are released.
I contacted two people today, we'll see what happens.

I can dig around my Twitter. I've got quite a few good pixel artists that follow me, so if I see someone that may be able to help, I'll let you know.

Heh. I would probably do revenue shares, and opt for that over strict pay in advance. Really, this doesn't seem too difficult to do. What is your overall game palette? Standard 24/32?

Yes, and I have no preference on art direction currently, pretty open to whatever.
I planned on getting a few tile samples from a few people see what stuck out.
I'll hit you up on skype or a pm here shortly.

This looks pretty cool. I would check this out if it was on steam. I wouldn't ever get this game on a phone. I have tried playing games like it on a touchscreen and it just doesn't work for me. And using my ps2 controller on my phone is never as convenient as I want it to be.

I think right now it could control ok on a phone but I see it getting too complicated for that very quickly in the near future.

My biggest problem with using a touch screen for games is my thumb has no reference for what the neutral position of a dpad is and slowly moves off until I go to press up and hit right (or nothing) instead. That is the point I usually die and resist chucking my phone at something.

Ooh, a project? I know you're looking for a sprite/graphics designer right now, but here's something else that's kinda important. Do you have music for it?

War Lord
01-10-2017, 10:39 AM
I will indeed need music and sound effects but haven't put much into it yet as I'm so worried about the graphics cost currently.

Cashwarrior1
01-10-2017, 12:40 PM
Okay, because I was going to offer to help with music. Though I do realize that you probably want chiptune-esque music, and I can't really do that :P

War Lord
01-14-2017, 11:23 PM
I'm open to whatever music right now, though chiptunes would fit the art more.
I hadn't really thought about it much to be honest.

Dev Blog 3 is up. (https://www.armageddongames.com/2017/01/14/dungeon-disaster-dev-blog-3/)

I tried to get a zelda 3 soundfont, but I couldn't get a soundfont player to work. :/

Life, a toddler, summertime, all reasons, whether poor or not on the long delay.
Worked a bit this past week and got a new dev blog up.

Good to see the tires still spinning.

The tiles are starting to look pretty good. Looking more like a proper dungeon every update.

Is that 2D lighting shader-based or blending-based?

War Lord
07-18-2017, 11:06 PM
Shader
I'm still tweaking it, it isn't as dark now, and the lighting is just a nice extra subtle effect.

The artist I've been working with is absolutely fantastic. I can't say enough how happy I've been with the art.

Dev Blog 7 is up.
Some fixes, a powerup system with a triple shot powerup, boss health bar, and the adjusted lighting system.

Thanks
It's slowly coming along.
RIpping the temporary LTTP art out for the custom stuff has been great. Really makes me excited for whats to come.
