The NX got its some neat details out today from a new video from Nintendo.

I'm kinda hyped. What about you? You like what we've seen so far? Or are you gonna reserve praise/whatever for when more details come forth?

Kind of? This thing looks fucking amazing.

Thoughts so far: I hope it has motion controls and ir for backwards compatibility with Wii games(Virtual Console of course). Probably likely.

I wonder if they could incorporate 3ds compatibility with the tv as the top screen. Probably unlikely.

There's a rumor it's partnered with Steam, which would be amazing. Highly fucking doubt it.

People are worried about storage as though Micro SD sizes aren't equal to blu ray...not to mention multiple cartridges isn't outside the realm of possibility.

Skyrim? Probably never would have played it but now I'll have to check it out. Third Party support looks incredible.

If the specs are within the realm of the original PS4/XBone, we could be looking at a MONSTER seller.

What I've been able to dig up so far.

-Nintendo has stated it isn't backwards compatible with PHYSICAL 3DS/Wii U games. Digital has not been ruled out and is very possible.
-The Skyrim part of the video is apparently a mock-up and not confirmation that the game will be playable. HOWEVER, Bethesda is listed as a 3rd party partner and has not ruled out Skyrim for Switch.
-A large number of developers and such have thrown in their hat with the Switch. A full list can be seen in the included spoiler tag below.

The GameCube, Wii, and Wii U all used PowerPC processors, but Switch's will be ARM. It might be powerful enough to emulate GC and Wii, but Wii U compatibility seems exceedingly unlikely.

I wish Nintendo would just make a normal console that is easy to develop for, current-gen or better specs, and stop with the gimmicks.
I still buy the consoles for their games, and maybe that's part of the problem.

I dunno if they hate "gimmicks", but they certainly hate GAMERS.

Though, given how the Japanese see Adult Gamers, it probably shouldn't surprise us.

I would say so, yes, and there are far more serious reasons to boycott Nintendo than just "weird consoles"

It won't happen, but if they released their games on all platforms, they would kill it.
Hopefully they see that somewhat with the iOS game coming out, but I doubt they change their console game as long as people keep buying their consoles to play Mario and Zelda.

I know it won't, Nintendo fans are so destructively loyal, that they would immolate themselves AND their fellow gamers if the Big N willed it. Not saying that Nintendo will take their hatred of their own customers that far, but I AM saying their loyal fanbase would go along if they did.

You were last in Japan, when? I've never experienced any issues walking into a game shop there. Mostly Osaka though, so it could be that?

Also, don't forget the gigantic market for H-Games over there, that for whatever reason, doesn't hit the west at all.

Hmm, so is the Otaku hatred overblown then? Cus I'd love to be wrong about this. Though, it doesn't change the fact that Nintendo said that gamers, their own audience, are misogynists. But yeah, if Japanese gamers don't have it as bad I thought, that's a good thing.
