Is anyone else besides me really excited? The more and more I watch demo videos or even just footage of people playing it (amateurs frustrate me) I really can't wait to get this mid-September. I hope it is a huge success because I wonder if this would ever lead to more of this type of game down the road. It really is a great use of the game pad and sharing courses online and rating them by how players perform on the course (not by the maker's opinion) is a great idea. I also like how the creator can't upload their course unless they have finished it themselves to prevent any trolls out there from ruining a good time.

If you haven't been looking into this title at all, which I would be surprised if you haven't at least seen something about it by now, then watch the videos below.

This is the E3 trailer.

A slightly longer video from IGN that shows more of the editor part way through.

Not really, 2D Mario games do not interest me much. they could add all the features in the world, but at the end of the day, it's a tool for making games and levels I have no interest in playing.

What? Mario is awesome, especially the harder levels. Gotta play this with friends/family, lots of laughs.

I think is looks amazing, but I'm not surprised, although I am disappointed that the Wii Fit Trainer is in it, but whatever.
I'd rather you choose who you play as when designing the levels. I hope they make a 3DS version, to be honest, but it's not looking like it.

I can imagine some people (such as those who use that unofficial online Mario Level Maker - whatever its called - will make some of the most sick stages for this. I'll probably not make anything too difficult and will probably make some stages that do fun things, but are neither easy nor difficult. But we'll just have to see when the game is released on what happens.

In other words, yes I am hyped for this. Day 1 purchase. :kitty:

Time released secrets were bad enough in the arcades, I really am not happy Nintendo is bringing them to consoles.

Despite the time-released secrets, this does look like a lot of fun! Kind of reminds me of the old RPG Maker software. Of course, that didn't have a touch screen option like this does.

The time release is a little annoying but it only takes 9 days then you have it all unlocked forever. I am also hoping there is potential for expansion down the road with DLC or other options - hopefully free options too. You can already purchase and do the pre-load options through the store too. I just set that up last night.

I'm excited for it. I hope it does well, perhaps it could inspire Nintendo to realize a demand for other "Maker" titles, such as Metroid, or even Z...

You know. The Classics. ;)

Absolutely I am. Don't get me wrong, there have been Mario editors off and on (SMBX, editor feature in Mari() ) but I generally find them very cumbersome, difficult to use. I trust Mario Maker will be much more user-friendly while still able to provide for all those crazy level ideas.

Anyone pick this up yet? I started playing it today, made a couple levels and did a 100-Mario Challenge. Taking a little break for now and coming back with more ideas now that I unlocked more tools. I really like it a lot! I uploaded two of the levels I made and I know one of them was at least attempted by someone. The game will keep track of the number of attempts, clears, and stars given for each level uploaded. It's pretty cool and I'm having fun already with minimal tools unlocked. It should be really amazing once more of them are available.

I picked it up yesterday before work and messed around for a few hours once I got home. I've uploaded 2-3 levels so far and I'm working on some interesting designs. BTW, if you see a stage called Year of Luigi Forever, that's one of mine. Its pretty short and straight forward, but its a nifty YOL tribute (I'm planning on a more complex stage for a better YOL level I'll work on later)

[EDIT-O-VISION]

I have the ID codes for my 4 currently uploaded levels if anyone wants to play them (with a very brief summary of each level included)

Bowser Jr's Castle: 309C-0000-0027-A9A8 (its has two routes, the way to one is hidden)
Year of Luigi Forever: 7F7B-0000-001F0-7A46 (its mainly for Luigi Fans as I used all green enemies I had at the time of creation. Oddly enough, its the only level so far that's received stars so far)
Simple Castle 01: 8A10-0000-0020-109F (The title of the stage says it all, but my definition of simple maybe off for this level)
SMB1 Airship 01: 544E-0000-0020-14C8 (A airship level in the SMB1 style, just for fun)

Lemme know what you think of them (either here, in a comment on the stage via SMM, or both) and any criticism is welcome. :kitty:

Looks like fun, but for me $60 is way too much. I might pick it up if I can get it for $40 or so. Also, I hope they add more level themes and enemies missing from a few of the games. That and the ability to edit a course you've uploaded.

My friend has a copy, I played around with it for a while (tried some levels made by other people, made a rocking ghost house [if you can, search for "Greenhouse Ghosts"). It's not enough for me to buy a Wii U, but for those with the system it's definitely worth a buy.

I already have 10 levels uploaded, some are pretty hard, but a few are right in the middle challenge wise. I will have to play some of the ones you posted later. You can follow specific makers too so try searching in the maker area for me with the name emock81. You can find my levels then. I think everyone can be searched by Nintendo ID.

I'll look up your levels later tonight erm. Sounds like they could be fun for a challenge. FYI: you can also search another player's levels that they have played and starred (two separate lists on their in-game profile) and see what they've been playing.

Here is the code for one of my levels to make it easier to find me. You can then favorite a maker by selecting the heart icon to make it easier to play all their levels through the maker menu.

I didn't realize you couldn't search by level title.

Here's the code for "Greenhouse Ghosts":

D898-0000-004D-4670

Anyway, it's my friend's account (since I don't own a Wii U). This is the only level I helped him make, but you can check out his other stuff too.

FYI, Greenhouse Ghosts is not an easy level. While it isn't terribly punishing there are particularly difficult segments, particularly after emerging from the second pipe. Be sure to look around you and wait for the right opportunity to advance.

Looks fun. Though I worry about troll level makers.

In other news, 2 of my stages got deleted because they weren't "popular" or whatever excuse Nintendo uses to delete stages people don't like to star. I re-uploaded Alty's Training Course 1-1, but the other one is my take on the first level of Castlevania for the NES. Both course IDs are below. :kitty:

Castlevania Level 1 (19A9-0000-00C7-F711)

#2 was a feature of THE FIRST SMB GAME for fuck's sake. I mean it's good that they added it in retrospect, but seriously.................

The explanation I've heard is that is so that the servers aren't over-crowded with levels that nobody wants to play. Granted, that doesn't stop me from uploading them again, its still silly when they could just have...I don't know...more servers. Meh.

Well that hasn't been a problem for LBP or, well, any other "create your own" game servers that I know of. But suddenly now, it's a problem for Nintendo.

Love the update. I saw a few complaints about not having a checkpoint system. That is a nice feature to add in. I like the adjustment on the power-ups as well. Will that also work for the leaf/cape or just the fire flower? I guess we will see on the 4th.

Wow, it looks like no one has posted any levels here. Here are some levels I have made. I think they are generally pretty difficult, but also fair. But I dunno, what do you guys think? I always thought I was good at Mario, but then I've seen some crazy levels that seem impossible. Anyway, I can't even begin to say how much I love this game, and how glad I am something like this exists.

Big Bob-Omb on the Summit
8A91 0000 0104 C28F
This level is pretty straightforward. It is my version of Bob-Omb Battlefield. It was one of the earlier stages I made, but I like it cause I feel it is a decent interpretation of Mario's first 3D foray recreated in 2D.

The Mushroom Kingdom
2D76 0000 0111 5187
This is a remake of the first three courses of the original Super Mario Bros. in one level. It's simple, but I'm proud of it since it's pretty faithful to the original, in terms of level layout. There are some minor tweaks though.

Super Jumps and Dangerous Flying
82FA 0000 0113 C490
This Super Mario World styled level has you using the cape to perform various Jump challenges. There are five in all. Depending on your skill level, this will seem impossible, or very simple.

The Floor is Lava!
2A72 0000 0103 3794
Another SMW styled level. As the name implies, most of the floor is unsafe to touch. This one is fun to try to speedrun though.

Take the High Road
CD73 0000 0103 52CF
My first attempt at making a level with two paths, and one of them is right, and one is wrong (which should be obvious by the stage name :P). This is a SMB3 styled level using the ghost house theme. I actually like this level a lot, and it's pretty big.

SUPER MARIO BOY!!
F779 0000 0105 8586
This level was inspired by Super Meat Boy which was incidentally inspired by Super Mario Bros. It's a bit on the harder side if your not familiar with both games, and the wall mechanics.

Fear Factory
BBD1 0000 0108 38AA
A long, grueling level with lots of traps. Don't be put off though, this level is actually pretty cool, and has some (in my opinion) pretty cool, and original ideas. There are also checkpoints.

Don't Get That (P)!
9D83 0000 0109 2CDC
Go through life completely ignoring the obvious solution. Do NOT touch a P Switch.

Freeze Flame Fortress
2A28 0000 011B B236
I just swapped this one or for another ice level. This version is older, but it is the better level, IMO. Similar to the Mario Galaxy level it's named for, you'll have to deal with ice and fire.

Most of my stages (especially the longer ones) use checkpoints. Some levels even use two. If any of these level IDs are wrong, please let me know, cause I wrote them down on paper, from my WiiU, then typed them later onto my computer :heh:. Any feedback is welcome. I've only had the game for a few weeks, so I don't have many plays or stars, and can only have 10 uploads. I have a few other levels I've had up, and I frequently change them. Any changes will be posted here if people are interested in my stuff.

I just finished, and uploaded another castle level. I'm pretty happy with this one. It's long, and challenging. Think along the lines of Roy, and Larry's castles from the original SMW. Oh, can you kill Bowser using only the cape? It's a fun little extra challenge
With or Without You
185F 0000 011B B59B

Thank you for taking the time to play my levels (And whomever consequently gives me stars). :)
