Sorry for the all caps thread title, but I only heard about this less than an hour ago and thought I'd share it here (because why not?)

So I came upon the news that a new Dragonball anime is being produced and released by July, 2015 (at least in Japan so far) that will continue after DBZ's Buu Saga by a few years. Its titled Dragonball Chou (translates to Super) and will feature Akira Toriyama returning with his talents and with an animation style used most recently in the new movies.

Some articles from credible sources: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-04-28/dragon-ball-gets-1st-new-tv-anime-in-18-years-in-july/.87608

My first reaction is similiar to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TisGKrJiejo

Discus and have fun! :kitty:

I've loved DBZ in the past and I'll be sure to keep up on this. I have been trying to watch the movies as well... I must say though, Battle of the Gods was lame.

I still haven't seen the Majin Buu saga, nor the original Dragon Ball series. I have the first two seasons on DVD, but I never got the rest. I really need to get caught up. I was one of the few who actually liked Dragon Ball GT. I'm really excited about this and hope it gets localized.

This year just keeps getting better. Really curious on if this will continue along with the new story from Battle of Gods and Fukkatsu no F, or if they'll go another route entirely. After seeing the last movie I really want some excuse for a SSJGSSJ Gogeta.

From what I can guess, I looks like it will continue after BoG and FnF, so chance for SSJGSSJ Gogeta is possible.

And I came upon an interesting theory about GT recently: its an alternate timeline (ala Mirai/Future Trunks' timeline with the Androids) Can't remember where I read it, but it kinda makes since that way (in a weird sorta way I guess) Take that as you will.

GT had a good premise, but it was plagued by STOCK FOOTAGE!

Seriously, having the Dragon Balls store the negative karma generated by the benevolence of a wish is totally awesome. It just... didn't get executed properly.
...Although... Black Star Dragon Balls are stupid.

I wonder if the recent revival in the Dragon Ball franchise is a result of the reprise of Z with Dragon Ball Z Kai, or if it is because of the Abridged internet phenomenon. Perhaps it is a bit of both.

I'd think it was the popularity of the movies and Xenoverse more than anything. There are posters for the new DBZ movie everywhere in Japan right now and there's a lot of gachapon with the movie and recent arcade game (Dragonball Heros).

First Sailor Moon, now Dragon Ball. It's the 90's all over again!

I'd like to know who's responsible for bringing these shows back, I've got a long list of Anime series I'd like to see make a comeback.
